A heart like a celestial body

Behind the covers of temporal bliss,
lies finger-deep worry lines,
and smokers mouth,
It had lead you on,
you were easy, it said.

you, beholding the scenic
with painted moods
you left the turning sheets.

new drafts,
prayer mats,
renewal in light.

Short Story Series - The Sheath, Machine and Vessel, Part 1

By Laila Ali Haid

The Sheath, Machine and Vessel

The clouds exchange form and become a fixture over the skies.

Deep down I can also perceive seas fluctuating in blood and parts, my very own systems welcoming seismic waves into my thought patterns.

I feel out for my glasses and afterwards, hit my head on rising from my bunk-bed. Brown warm eyes flash out to my faint cognizance and commands an oath for tomorrow.

It is a poster of our Brother-King, Nimrod II. "Tomorrow is a sheath which your hands can only pull", it reads. This is 2022, in which future leaps from our liminal states.

Tyranny in temporality.

Here, hearts and minds find strangulation in timed balances.

My name is 3456. I'm a 'Soul Cleaner', for the 'Progress in Sterility' unit.

The True Path

He (the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) called people to the straight path.

Indeed, the guiding path for us is to obey him and Allah, while for the Prophet peace be upon him (PBUH) it is to call us to Allah and obey Him. We are all the servants of Allah and must submit to Him.

Yet, still the Prophet PBUH and all Prophets are raised by Allah above the descendants of Adam through their submission to Allah first. In this regard, they are the first of the believers. Finally, the straight path is explained only by Allah - one must accept all of the Prophets and what has been established about the path in their books.

Moreover, the Qur’an is a criterion over these previous scriptures, and as such confirms them. Humans are thus continued on a path that is singular and from a one Lord. In this way, differences between religions and sects can be resolved from the foundations and structures of belief through all of the known Biblical (Old and New Testament) Prophets and their books. For instance, the discrepancies between the Christian and Jewish faiths in chronologies, accounts and creed delimits their paths.

Then, the straight path can be only undertaken with Islam; there is congruency in its moderation of and openness against the ambiguities of these two religions. This can be seen in its acceptance of Jesus - as the awaited Messiah of the Torah rejected by one group but incorrectly deified among another.

Thus, the Qur’an, as a divine revelation and apparent from its qualities to non-Muslims, expounds the straight path but entrenches belief to the acceptance of Islam. Yet, in its call from the Final Messenger - Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him, the premise of Islam is the submission to the only Lord.

Poem about the sunnah

Crystalline notions emerge from my salawat

The warmth in me when I remember kindness,

Noble consolation

In him,

We step across a long road

the long walk

among the dead

They found the end

Which the sunnah

mapped.

the steepest

path,

finds an eternity in illuminated finality

The Pristine Garment - poem on Prophet Muhammad PBUH

The sky dominated my head

Eyes stretching to the sofa bed

Legs felt despondent

In unison swarming the room

I look across the window

Overcome by mundane supernatural hatred

The mercy of Ar-Raheem

Determines my sleep.

Skip across the elemental

Re-tell the vitality.

Pessimism undermines clarity

Virtuous illuminations

Underwrites new realities

Floating before twilight

A narrative

swims to my conscious

Before me

he

Peace and Blessings always on him.

I recall graceful sleeps

dreams to keep.

Penitence Poem

Perseverance, penitence and patience,
All in my eyes just above its lids,
It is a strain for the chequered self,
The metaphysical discourse to good ratios,
A balance between the soul and act,
Shifting frames to a crystalline speech
The heart is stalemate with its vessel
Eat and live
Is to live to eat grain?
Or the penitence that flows from eye lids,
To another clean afternoon anchoring good reason
To strong faith?

On my way

Scrolls leisurely compete with time
I am on my way to a precision.
Marking the temporal in it all -
shrub and faint roses,
crystallizing moon phases,
Ocean floors,
Ebony doors

~

The hock mark
that made contextual my appearance
at your front door
marching all the way from
hushed beds of forest
to the sandy limits of an epiphany
I see a crystalline outpouring
From your weirdly glazed door
It projects the message
I've been waiting for
"To eternity through you
has motion from the wheels of
some grace".
